At UAB Medicine, my leadership as Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs is dedicated to advancing care for patients with mental disorders. A major focus is on innovation and discovery through clinical trials research. We have a dedicated team that develops innovative clinical programs to meet the needs of patients and their families. Our efforts seamlessly integrate the latest research and evidence into clinical practice, ensuring patients receive the highest level of care and trainees learn state of the art practices. My funded research and direct patient care activities are housed in the UAB Depression and Suicide Center. The Center is dedicated to studying novel pharmacological treatments to improve the lives of individuals and families dealing with severe and treatment resistant mood disorders. Collaborating closely with industry leaders and academic peers, we have contributed numerous peer-reviewed publications. We are leaders in the design and execution of national and international clinical trials funded by the NIH, industry, PCORI and private foundations.
